Founded
in 1996, ALFORD FESTIVAL MUSIC is a non profit making voluntary
organisation dedicated to bringing live music to Alford.
Alford is a small market Town in East Lincolnshire with a
vibrant cultural life and an established reputation for its
Arts and Crafts.
The Organisation is made up of Town’s people with a
common interest in all forms of Music of a high standard.
Although volunteers, the standard of the promotions is very
professional.
The stated Aims of the Organisation are to bring Live Music
to Alford and it is involved in running a Jazz Festival and
a Jazz Club as well as promoting concerts of Folk Music, Classical
Music, Rock, Pop and Music of different ethnic origins, mostly
with professional musicians. It also runs workshops and masterclasses
for amateur musicians.
Alford Festival Music uses a range of venues in the Town,
from Community Halls to pubs, gardens, churches, the Manor
House, the Windmill and the streets.
The economic impact is valuable to many businesses in town.
Alford Festival Music works closely with several Local Authorities
and the importance of its work has been recognised by funding
from the European Union, the Lottery Board and the District
and Town Councils. |
