JULIE EDWARDS AND KEVIN DEARDEN

Vocalist Julie Edwards and saxophonist-turned-guitarist Kevin Dearden have been together for over a decade. They have produced three CD's which have been featured on shows on BBC Radio 2 and on local radio stations in the UK and elsewhere.

Last night Julie Edwards, brilliant singer and improvisor, her partner Kevin Dearden on guitar, and Warren Jolly on bass, gave us a wonderful performance at the Jazz Club to bring the Festival programme to an end.

Julie has entertained us at the club and the Jazz Festival before, and every time she comes over we can see how she is developing as a singer, always bringing something new to her performance,  as her voice and style evolves and becomes ever more polished and  her choice of material widens.  She always delights us.

Kevin has finally given up the saxophone for his new guitar,  but his musicality comes through on his new instrument just as strongly. 

Kevin's melodic accompaniment to Julie’s vocals just right, and his soloing sweet and strong.  Warren has played with Julie and Kevin on many occasions and slots into his place in the trio with style.We had a full house with a very appreciative audience, and I believe the bar was kept busy.   Just like to thank the Half Moon for hosting the Jazz Club throughout the year…… they put a lot of work in to set the room up for us just the way we like it, and to clear up after us when we go!

See you all in September folks!  First club night will be on the14th, not sure yet which band will be playing, but watch this space to find out.
